Let me reintroduce myself

September 18, 2017

If we haven’t talked in a while, or we haven’t seen each other in a while, I need to reintroduce myself. Does that sound awkward to you? Are you curious what it feels like to have to reintroduce myself? IT IS AMAZING!

Why the reintroduction?

Many of you know that a few years ago I had the distinct privilege of joining the John Maxwell Team. I’ve always had a wealth of desire and drive and have always looked for ways to make myself better. BUT, since I have been a member of this phenomenal team I have grown in ways that I could never have imagined. I am growing at such a fast pace that I cannot even keep up.

Simply put, I am literally not even the same person I was last week.

Growing is scary and exciting at the same time. Through my growth journey, I have laughed, cried, screamed, given up, gotten energized and probably about every other emotion you could imagine. I’m learning so much through the journey and there are a few things I have learned along the way that I hope will benefit from.

1. If you are not growing, you are missing out – there is no finish line when it comes to growth. There was a time, a few of them actually where I thought that I had arrived. Boy, I was wrong. I thought that because I had achieved a title, or a rank that I had grown all I needed to. As I get older and wiser I have come to the realization that it’s not a title or a position that I was looking to reach, but a way of life.

2. If you are growing, you need to revisit things you have done in the past – I am an avid reader. I’ve read many books over the years and learned a great deal from them. One of the recent challenges from one of my mentors was to clarify my dream. We were discussing a book that I have read several years ago. I was inspired about working on my dream that I reread the book over the weekend. It was amazing how much I learned after reading the book now as a different person.

3. You must surround yourself with people to help you along the way – Do you have a mentor, a coach, a role model? John Maxwell says that you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with. So, let me ask you, who are you surrounding yourself with? You cannot grow on your own. It is crucial to get people around you who are smarter than you, more successful than you, and who think bigger than you. You need someone who will challenge you to become better and who will hold you accountable.

Why do I share this? I share this to challenge you to work on growing yourself. Do you have a dream? Do you know what you would do if failure wasn’t an option? I challenge you to revisit things you have done in the past so you can benefit more as the person you are today. And finally, I challenge you to find someone who will help you be the person you were designed to me.

If you thought you knew me before, let me reintroduce myself. I would love to sit down with you and tell you who I am today. I am so different than I ever could have imagined, and I love it!
